Frequently Asked Questions

How old is your property?

The Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge has been family-owned and proudly independent for over 30 years. While constantly undergoing upgrades, major renovations have taken place in the past year. We are proud of our well-maintained rooms and are dedicated to maintain high standards of cleanliness and comfort for all of our valued guests.

Where are you located?

We are located right in Canmore on Bow Valley Trail, just 10 minutes walking distance from downtown (Main Street). At the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge, you’re at the center of attractions with Banff National Park and Kananaskis Country just minutes away. Truly in the Heart of the Canadian Rockies.

Do you have a restaurant?

We don’t have our own restaurant and are glad about this, as the number of restaurants in Canmore is abundant (over 30). How boring to eat every day in a hotel’s own restaurant. We will be pleased to help you decide where to have your lunch, dinner or breakfast, depending on your preferences in taste, price range and ambience.

What facilities and amenities do you have?

First of all, our Jacuzzi and Finnish style Sauna are our guests’ favourites. We have 8 different room types to choose from with a wide range of bed configurations for various sleeping arrangements. For your leisure we have spectacular mountain views, a picnic area with a barbeque and playground.

The Guides Room is our answer to small meetings and gatherings for up to 25 persons. It is well equipped with a kitchen, wood burning fireplace and ample numbers of tables and chairs for most functions.

A coin laundry, free parking close to rooms, complimentary newspapers and coffee, internet access in our reception area are gestures that will make your stay more comforting.

Are you open year-round?

Absolutely! You might think that we at the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge are committed to skiing and winter activities onlyÖ But in fact, summer is our busiest season!!! Canmore is a year-round destination with endless adventure and sightseeing possibilities. We are centrally located for your summer, fall, winter and spring experience of the Canadian Rockies.

Do you offer AAA/CAA member or Senior citizen discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts on our Rack Rates for AAA/CAA members and Senior citizens. Please call us at 1-800-665-6111 to ask for your special rate or book your AAA/CAA member rate online.

What is included in a kitchen?

Many rooms and all of our apartments feature fully equipped kitchens with stove & oven, fridge, microwave, dishes & cutlery, even pot holders and wine glasses so that you can truly unleash your cooking talents.

How far are you from the ski hills?

We are centrally located amongst 4 major ski resorts of the Canadian Rockies: Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, Ski Banff @ Norquay and Nakiska – all between 25 and 50 minutes driving distance from the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge. Ski & Stay Packages, lift tickets and ski shuttle are available for selected ski areas.

Do you allow dogs / pets?

Yes, we allow pets in designated smoking and non-smoking rooms, based on availability. There is an additional $10.00 per night charge for pet rooms. Please call us at 1-800-665-6111 for more information or book your pet friendly room online.

Do you have a meeting room?

Yes, our “Guides Room” can hold 20 – 25 people and features a full kitchen with dishwasher. To know more about our meeting room click here or call us at 1-800-665-6111 for availability.

How friendly is your Staff?

12 on a scale of 10, that’s how friendly we are and even more… We are dedicated to providing excellent service. Between all of us, we speak English, French, German and some Italian.

We are very knowledgeable about the area as we all love the outdoors. We will gladly help you with all your questions and needs during your stay at the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge.

Looking forward to see you soon!
